Dr. Gerrit Kistemaker
Manager of Genetic Evaluations
Born and raised on a dairy farm in the Netherlands, Gerrit received his Master’s Degree in Animal Breeding from Wageningen Agricultural University. He continued his studies in Canada where he did research on the test day model and received his PhD in Animal Genetics from the University of Guelph. Gerrit joined CDN (now Lactanet) shortly after he finished his studies and became Chief Geneticist in 1999. He currently is the Manager of Genetic Evaluations and is responsible for the dairy cattle genetic and genomic evaluations in Canada. He is a member of the Genetic Evaluation Board of Lactanet and the Interbull Technical Committee.
