Janusz Jamrozik, Ph.D
Research Geneticist
Born and raised in Poland, Janusz has over 40 years of experience in research, industry implementations, and teaching in the field of quantitative genetics, animal breeding and statistics. His areas of expertise are dairy and beef cattle, genetic and genomic evaluation, parameter estimation, mixed linear and non-linear models, Bayesian methods, statistical analysis, computing, and large-scale data processing. He is the author of more than 350 research papers, book chapters, conference abstracts and technical reports.
He is responsible for the development and implementation of Canadian and international genetic/genomic evaluations for dairy cattle, among others: Canadian Test-Day Model for production traits, Canadian model for female reproductive traits; Lactanet genetic evaluations for resistance to mastitis, metabolic diseases and fertility disorders; and hoof health and feed efficiency evaluations. Janusz has been a valued member of the CDN/Lactanet team since 2014 and is also an adjunct Professor at CGIL, University of Guelph.
