This workshop is intended for all dairy producers in Canada, who wish to understand the changes announced in the Code of Practice for the Care and Handling of Dairy Cattle, which will come into effect from April 1, 2024.

Learning objectives:
- Understand the changes to the Code of Practice
- Encourage producers to plan for required changes
- Discuss possible options in modifying their current situation if necessary.
What will be covered:
- The changes and new requirements of the Code of Practice. Main focus on: calf housing, heifers, cows, dry cows, animal freedom, calving pens, group calves, lameness, etc.
- Promotion of the benefits of changes for a good herd management
- Suggestions in alternatives for producers who are limited in their barns
- Discussion on the economics of different choices
