Although cows can currently be classified based on their genetics and performance, current selection criteria are based on past performance or short-term projections (e.g., 305-day projections). Critical decisions are often made without considering the animal’s likelihood of remaining in the herd, ultimately jeopardizing genetic progress, longevity, and the herd’s overall profitability. These new predictions are an addition to Lactanet’s portfolio and provide a projection beyond the current lactation.
